Common Ground Sought on Supplements - (March 9, 1999)
Pharmacists holding their annual convention in San Antonio are vowing to
work withso-called "herbal practitioners" to standardize manufacturing
and labeling of herbal treatments. The American Pharmaceutical Association
is holdingits annual convention in San Antonio. Officials with the group
say herbalismis the "hottest trend in health care today..." but pharmacists
and herbal practitioners agree that a lack of accepted standards and
scientific research into herbs and dietary supplements make pharmacists
leery of dispensing them.

American pharmacists admit that they know next to nothing about herbs, except
of course nicotine containing herbs, yet they want to work with herbalists.

the multi-national pharmaceutical industry just grand?
